We are in the process of planning a couple "Alumni Work Weekends" at CCF to do some repairs around the house.  If you would be interested in helping out or donating some materials, email us and let us know.

Alumni Update: Alex Travis

What years were you at CCF?
I started coming to CCF at the Super Bowl Party at Ma & Pa's house my freshman year and was there until I graduated in 2000.

What leadership groups were you blessed to be in?
I had the privilege of being in all sorts of now defunct leadership groups, Giants, Fine Vines and two years of Kudzu.

What were your favorite memories of CCF?
Lots of memories come to mind... Carrying Justin Fisher down to the waters edge at Panama City; JFK and Monica Lewinski costumes for Halloween; capture the flag on the Harper compound; taking a bat to the walls of the old girls house; the Peanut Butter skit for the Missions Thermometer; cleaning the gutters of the houses without using a ladder; Mary Lou Miller; playing 3 years on the girls Flamingo Football Team; watching the front wheel on our Hummer go flying into the woods while we were in it at Awanita; and the list just goes on and on....

What does CCF mean to you?
Then, CCF was my home both literally and figuratively. Now, it is a constant example of how to love people for who God made them to be.

Funniest thing that happened to you?
The funniest thing that happened to me was probably the Halloween parties. This one year we were at the Sorrow's house and I showed up as Monica Lewinski (dress and all) with Sharla (Wilson) Manglass as Bill Clinton. We were playing a game of pass the frozen grapefruit, and when Bryce Molder was trying to take the grapefruit it slipped down to my chest. It was definitely interesting watching him try to get it. Thanks to the picture David Jackson took, I will never forget it.

What was CCF like?
Interesting question. It was my house, my friends, my college experience.

How was the transition afterwards?
After living at the house for a couple years, graduating and moving on was a big shock for me.

Was it hard? Why?
Everything I did involved CCFers, so moving 600 miles north where I didn't know anyone or anything was really like starting all over.

First memories at CCF?
My first memories at CCF was Andrew Antweiler inviting me to the Super Bowl party in the living room of Ma & Pa's house. Also, meeting Natalie Dixon and Kristie Green while there.

What do you do now?
Now I do lots of things. During the day I design web pages and web-based systems for the Missile Defense Agency. Most afternoons and several hours each weekend, I work with several high school ballet studios working with the students on their partnering skills or rehearsing for different productions. Any other spare time I spend with friends from church.

One thing you picked up at CCF that has been the biggest thing to you since you've left?
There are really two things that have been constantly with me since I left. First was Rick talking about one of his father's sayings about money. It kinda went like... "A good way to fight the greed of money was to give it away." The second was a passion for serving and helping others.

How was the 20th Anniversary Celebration?
The 20th Anniversary Celebration was incredible. Seeing old faces brought back lots of memories. However meeting current students and leadership was probably the best part, because it was an awesome picture of a passion for Christ and people.

We are trying to collect as many pictures of CCF from all the years so that we can all look back at our favorite moments from CCF history right here on the alumni website.

If you have any, please email them to ccf@gtccf.org or put them on a CD and send them to us at CCF. Let history never be forgotten!
